我们在玩游戏结束时，就会出现game over字样。但我不明白，这个over不是个动词，游戏结束应该是game

这句话的完整形式其实应该是This game is over，但是在英语中，在书写标题，标语等一些地方狭小，不便于使用完整形式的东西的时候经常省略一些无关紧要的词，比如be动词，冠词等。另外有些时候为了使句子紧凑，或使句子显得更书面化一些，也可以省略一些词，比如这里省略is和this就是这种情况。洋人们看到game over就会自然而然地想到This game is over，不会有歧义的。
