Are you addicted to computer games? Do you stay up all night playing them? There's no doubt that the excitement and sophistication of games these days makes them hard to put down. But should we worry about their effects on our health?
We are spoilt for choice when it comes to gaming: You can role play & creating your own fantasy s and stories, giving you a chance to step out of everyday life into an imaginary world. And there are shooting games where you can let out your anger and frustration in violent situations where you kill people with guns.
Can these kinds of games really be fun and can being absorbed in virtual reality be good for us? Popular games like Grand Theft Auto have been blamed for everything from falling s at school to provoking acts of extreme violence. Internet safety advisor, Alan MacKenzie, thinks &many people ably will just think that a game is just a game and not realising the explicit content that's in there&.& He gives an example of the violence and sexualisation of women which he says is &wholly inappropriate for anybody, never mind children.&
Others will argue that gaming is a harmless form of entertainment. There is
that playing video games could actually be good for us. Some games are educational and using games consoles can help children learn good dexterity. Studies have also shown that the skills used in playing games can cause growth in certain areas of the brain, the ability to think in 3D and even improve our eyesight.
Video gamers are also no longer just solitary creatures. For some, gaming is having a positive effect on their
lives with games like Halo and World of Warcraft often being played in groups. When your group works together to win the game, your sense of achievement is higher than when winning by yourself. So it seems today, gaming isn't just for geeks and if used in moderation we can all take part. What video games do you play and how do they make you feel?

自学者，看教科书实在看不下去。以前就听人说过，自己感兴趣的东西比较容易记住。
不知道下载游戏，不下载汉化补丁。一边查词典一边玩能不能学到英语？
比如《辐射3》
日语也有自学过，就是背了50音，还有看了下基本的语法。因为看日本动漫，很多单词都能记下来。不知道这样的方法用在学英语上有没效。

玩游戏看电影学英语其实是可行的,但是拿来应付考试是不可能的,口语化和不规范的地方很多,不可能拿来当成书面答案..

那看来为了考试还是要老老实实看教科书了。
觉得背单词这样的事情，一个一个单词背很难记牢。句子和文章里的单词比较好记，只要记着句子和文章就记住单词了。

反正我英语就是玩星际1剧情学的，到现在起码6级考研啥的无压力，LZ的想法是对的，一个一个单词背就是煎熬
至于游戏里口语化的部分你考试里收敛点就可以了，应该没人分不清哪个是正规哪个口语了吧。。。

我喜欢新概念，初中毕业感觉从2看起就行了，我当初高一暑假开始背新概念2文章的，坚持了一段时间，感觉不错

聽英文歌　看電影　玩遊戲
這些都是很好的學習英文方式　至少我有許多朋友都是靠此學好英文的
至於應付考試我想文法方面的教科書上應該都教得差不多了　
反正來來去去也就那幾個
這些休閒管道反而可以讓你學到到平常不容易接觸到的單字和俚語
我想只要在不影響研讀時間的前提下

初中开始玩英文游戏的，从那时开始英文课就没好好听过，后来大学四六级裸考的都过口语线了，现在在加拿大一年了没啥压力，所以说玩游戏还是有点帮助的

玩游戏，听歌，看电影对真实的英文水平提升有很大帮助的，应付考试就不如读教科书，红宝书什么的，特别是中国人出题，中国人评判的英文考试。天朝已经退化到考中文三国某题的时候，标准答案是诸葛亮，回答孔明就是错误的僵化思维，母语尚且如此，何况英文。
不过,newvegas 里面很多电脑终端有长篇的英文email, 还有纸质的类似folan 家书（NCR 阵亡士兵的家书）那些都是很好的英文写作范文啊，认真研读以后一般外企的扯淡交流很有帮助。自从认真玩了fallout 系列，俺们老板发来那些长篇大论的英文email 不那么面目可憎了。
