Mara/O'Mara married to Margaret Foley on 3 June
1846: Thomas
O'Mara (B. 1820) of the
Township of Ramsey married Margaret
Foley (b. 1823) of the same place. The
witnesses were Jeremiah Foley and
Elisabeth O'Mara per dispensation. I would like to confirm that his father
is John Mara and mother is Johanna Mara of the HMS Stakeby that sailed
from Cohb Ireland 1823. Thomas left Lanark County to settle in McKillop
Township then left in 1868 to settle in Le Sueuer County, Minnesota USA.
First papers are established 1869. Other names are Foley, Hunt, Dwyer-
all married to sisters of Thomas O'Mara/O'Meara.
Abel MARTIN () & Lucy WEBSTER (). Both
born in Ireland and both buried in St. George's at Ramsay

The reason they moved to Hastings Co., Mayo Twp.????& From passed
down information it is believed that they moved because of a locust
(grasshopper) famine.& I was trying to narrow down the window, to the
time these and other families moved to Carlow or Mayo Twps.& I have
my grandfather Wm Peacock in the Reserve Militia in 1871 in Lanark and
have him getting married in Mayo Twp in March of 1897.& So if I could
find out the year of the famine (if there was one) then would know about
when they moved to Mayo Twp.
John Duncan married Mary Matthie in June 30,
1885 in Dalhousie Twp.& They had 10 possibly 11 children (James,
Ellen, Anna, William, Sarah, Gilbert, Euphemia, John, Hazel and Margaret).
Samuel Johnston came from Ireland with his brother Robert. They had
a land grant. Samuel married Anne Mawhimey and they had 12 children. Their

Thomas Culbertson or Cuthbertson came to Canada from
Ireland 1829 - 1830 and settled in Drummond Township, Lanark County. 1842
Census shows five people from Ireland and one born in Canada and that they
were living in Canada for eight years by then. I can not find any ship
records. Thomas's wife was Grisilda Cunningham. All I
know is that they had a son William but I think there were more in the
family. William married Ann Monigh / Meighan on August 5, 1858 in Drummond
Presbyterian Church. William and Ann had ten children. T Graselda,
james, Thomas, Maggie, Melinda, Williamm Bolton, Arthur, Edward and Alice.
Trying to find ship records and Williams brothers and sisters if he had

(b. 1833 Bathurst, Gloucester Cty., NB) (both are buried at CEDAR HILL
UNITED) and any information on either as to where they lived in
PAKENHAM.& Alexander is believed to have died in 1866.& My

died Oct 15, 1910, buried at Weyburn, Sask. Johanna died Mar 9, 1924,
buried Harrington. I'm interested in tracing back on the grandfather's
ancestors.
I have a genealogical record of the MacLeod family recorded by a cousin
of my father. The cousin was Cecil Douglas Morris, the son of Jeannette
MacLeod and Thomas Morris.

We are looking for any information on our
great grandparents, William Moss and Elizabeth Broughen
also spelled Brougham/Broughan.& William was born in Sherbrooke S.
about 1845 and Elizabeth was born in the Ramsay area about 1848.&
They married in 1872/73 and had nine children including our grandmother,
Martha.& William died on February 3, 1925 and Elizabeth in 1937.&
They resided in Sherbrooke S. for most of their married lives.& We
have been unable to locate where either are buried.& The death
certificate for William states he was buried in Maberly but in
contacting the three cemeteries in Maberly they have no record of his or
Elizabeth's burial.& The service for Elizabeth was held at the
United Church in Maberly but no record exists as to where she was

I am researching the history of Dr. William Mostyn.& He was born
in Ireland (1830s), raised in Kingston ONT, went to Queen's College in
Kingston for his medical degree.& He moved to Ramsey Township around
1860 to set up his practice.& In the 1861 Census he was listed as
living with the prominent Shipman family in Almonte.& In 1871 he has
living across the street from Registrar John Menzies.& He died
tragically in 1880 in the river between Almonte and Appleton after
visiting a patient (capsized small boat).& He was also the first
Almonte mayor (1871), was an MLA for Lanark, and President of NLAS from
1867 until his death. Anyone with any information about his life,
especially where he lived rom 1861 to 1871 would be greatly appreciated!

Sutherlandshire, in the memorable year 1745.& At the time of his
birth his father was absent in the army of Prince Charles Stewart, who
on his return home after the defeat of that Prince, was presented with
the subject of this notice, then three months old& He was for many
years Forrester to the Duchess of S subsequently he removed to
Glasgow, where he resided 10 years previous to embarking for this county
with the Society Settlers in the year 1821.
