Japan in spring: A cherry blossom paradise
Hello everybody!
It’s spring time in Japan again and that means the cherry blossoms are blooming in most regions right now.
Here in Kansai they’re at their peak at the moment!
I thought I should share some of my favorite cherry blossom photos that I took in the past 5 years.
Yes, it’s my 5th spring here, but it never gets boring! The beautiful cherry and plum blossoms amaze me every year again.

Ueno Park in Tokyo, 2008:
This photo is obviously quite old. Taken with a camera that I don’t possess anymore, so the quality is not that good. That goes for all photos of !
is so beautiful in spring, but also very crowded.
Matsuyama Castle in Ehime Prefecture on Shikoku, 2009:
I was so lucky that year. In Shikoku the cherry blossoms were at their peak and the weather was clear as well!
For me there’s nothing more beautiful than a blue sky, cherry blossoms and a castle in the background!
Around the castle are millions of cherry blossom trees, so it’s a great hanami spot!

The park around the “pseudo” castle was so beautiful and full of cherry blossoms. You also had a nice view on the ocean!

The rainy atmosphere was just right for Hiroshima. Cherry blossoms can be beautiful even during rainy days!

Miyajima 2010:
So beautiful in spring, but even better in autumn. I went there a few times as it was rather close to where I used to live before I moved.

And of course the deer enjoyed the cherry blossoms on Miyajima, too!
Onomichi in Hiroshima Prefecture 2010 is a very beautiful place in spring!
You’ll have the pink cherry blossoms and the blue ocean in the background!

Absolutely beautiful and you should go visit there no matter when!
2011 I was very unlucky and missed the cherry blossoms for the most part. They were blooming much later than usually (just like this year) and started when my vacation was about to end! :(

Me too, although I was taking photos of a castle outside in the middle of the rainstorm, ahahaha~
I’m always so lucky with the weather! *sigh*

This photo was taken 1 day after the typhoon.
Not only the typhoon harmed the blossoms. It seems like all sorts of insects like them.
And not only insects, but also squirrels it seems! *g* (sorry for the bad quality ..)

Himeji 2012:
The castle is still under reconstruction, but there are SO many cherry blossom trees surrounding the castle.
It’s really beautiful and worth a visit!

And finally I’ll post a few close-ups of various cherry blossoms and probably a few plum blossoms as well.
If I actually spend some time on it I could tell them apart, but uhm .. yeah, right now I can’t!
It’s not THAT difficult though.

is one of my favorite seasons in Japan, but recently I like
even better.
The great thing about spring is that there are so many limited sakura (cherry blossom) related items!
Tea, snacks, sweets, body lotions! I’m obsessed with cherry blossoms and because they’re limited I can’t resist to buy some of those items!!!
