Hong Kong – April 29, 2015 – Samsung Electronics HK Co. Ltd., a global leader in consumer electronics, launched the brand new SUHD TV series in Hong Kong, delivering ultimately vivid and detailed images with Samsung’s proprietary picture quality technology and SUHD Re-mastering Engine. Moreover, to cater to different market needs and bring an extraordinary UHD viewing experience to more users, Samsung further enhances the Curved UHD TV and UHD TV series by introducing its first-and-ever curved displays at 3000R (3,000mm radius) for 48” or below models.
Samsung’s Premium SUHD TV Introducing Unparalleled Picture Quality
Samsung reserves the “S” identification for its most premium, flagship products that signify a true leap forward in technology. As the leader in the TV industry, Samsung extends the prestigious “S” identification to its newest premium TV line, the SUHD TV. The SUHD TV is designed to excite all of the senses, with sensational picture, seamless interaction and stylish design.
Utilizing Samsung's trademark of the eco-friendly Nano-crystal Technology, Samsung SUHD TVs demonstrate ground-breaking advances in contrast, brightness, colour reproduction and detail – offering superior picture quality. Through adjusting the size of ultrafine particles, Nano-crystal Technology expresses brilliant colours by high light purity of wavelengths. In addition, the SUHD TV features the 10-bit Nano Crystal Black Panel that produces a wide range of more accurate colours, providing viewers with 64 times more colour expression than conventional TVs.
By automatically analysing the content colour and brightness, SUHD Re-mastering Engine not only fully delivers SUHD premium content, but also optimizes and enhances general content to match the superior image reproduction of the SUHD TV. The new SUHD TV series also adopts 2 times more colour adjustment points than conventional UHD TVs for coping with wide colour gamut.
Furthermore, the advanced picture quality technology Peak Illuminator registers subtle differences of brightness to minimize additional power consumption, while also producing ultimate contrast levels for better details, in even the darkest screen images, and bringing an elevated level of brightness that is more than 2.5 times brighter than conventional TVs.
Designed to improve picture quality, especially the low-quality input of external sources, Ultra Clean View enables an automatic analysis of the resolution of original content. It enhances details throughout and reduces noises with an optimal algorithm setting to match the resolution, ensuring perfect clarity and vividness of pictures that meet user expectations.
Perfect Curvature Offering Panoramic Cinema Experience
Succeeding the unique and innovative curved design of Samsung Curved TVs, Samsung SUHD TVs also come with the optimal curvature of 4200R (4,200mm radius)[1] and Auto Depth Enhancer. The surround view by curved screen gives a wider field of view leading to a panorama effect. The concave curve of the screen is a pleasing design to human eyeballs, allowing users to enjoy a more comfortable viewing experience and ultimate picture quality.
Samsung SUHD TV and Curved UHD TV models in sizes from 50” or above adopt the optimal curvature of 4200R, which creates a balanced and uniformed viewing distance for a more true-to-life viewing experience, providing the best picture quality from a normal watching distance of 3m to 4m. Compared to flat-panel TVs, the curved screen offers higher contrast from different viewing positions, as well as reducing reflection and interference from external light for much clearer picture quality.
Viewing experience is further enhanced with the Auto Depth Enhancer, an algorithm that analyses regions of images and automatically adjusts contrast for a greater sense of depth on Samsung SUHD TVs and Curved UHD TVs. This proprietary technology undoubtedly creates an ultimately immersive viewing experience and envelops users in spectacular colour, clarity and detail.

Sophisticated Grand Chamfer and Shirring Designs
Taking cues from contemporary art and architecture, Samsung SUHD TVs are infused with many modern and minimalist highlights. Samsung SUHD TV JS9900 features Samsung’s Curved Grand Chamfer design, adding more depth to the TV screen. The elegant bezel renders the TV a piece of art when mounted on the wall. Both SUHD TV JS9800 (curved) and JS8000 (flat) have a soft, textured Shirring design on the back, ensuring the TVs look premium and stylish from any angle.
New Tizen-Powered SMART TV Redesigns the Future Entertainment Experience
As of this year, all of Samsung’s SMART TVs, including the new SUHD TV, will be powered by Tizen – an open-source platform that supports the web standard for TV app development. With Tizen, Samsung’s new SMART TV platform not only has a bevy of new features, but it also provides consumers with a more intuitive UI, a more integrated entertainment experience, and more choices for content than ever before.
oThe new user interface for Samsung’s Smart Hub is more responsive and playful, allowing users to easily access to the content they want. It is simplified to just one screen, displaying consumers’ most recent content and tailored content recommendations for even more entertainment options.
oWith Quick Connect, Samsung SMART TVs automatically recognize Samsung smartphones once paired via BLE (Bluetooth Low Energy) technology. Consumers can share video content from their Samsung smartphones to their SMART TVs with the press of a button. Also, users can watch TV through their mobile devices without any apps or complicated pre-settings.
